Chris Hemsworth will be bringing Hulk Hogan to the big screen – and he’s got his work cut out for him.

The Australian actor is set to play the WWE legend in his upcoming biopic – which will be helmed by Joker director Todd Phillips and has wrestling pioneer Eric Bischoff on board – and the biggest part of his prep will be getting into shape.

Chris is no stranger to bulking up – he is Thor after all – but one personal trainer has opened up on exactly what he’ll need to do to really look the part as one of the industry’s most recognisable stars.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, fitness guru Jono Castano Acero – whose clients include Rebel Wilson – insisted the transformation won’t be too different to other roles. ‘With any transformation, diet, exercise and your mental state all play a big role in the outcome,’ he explained. ‘Chris has always looked amazing in all his roles, so I am confident he can achieve this physique.

The Hollywood star will have to get even bigger to play Hogan

‘One of the most important aspects I get my clients to think about is why they want to make the change… Whether it’s health reasons or a big movie role, they are both driving forces behind wanting to make the change.

‘Your mental state needs to be a positive one.’ Although Jono hasn’t worked with Chris before, he’s definitely in a good position to know what he’ll have to do to turn himself into Hulk Hogan for the highly anticipated movie.

As well as a number of general workouts every day – and supplements where necessary to help with the leading man’s recovery – he advised: ‘For my clients, we would look at a program that would start off with a calorie surplus whilst lifting heavier weights and upping the cardio closer to the goal date. ‘An example program I would put a client on is a surplus in calories – so eating more calories than you’re burning – and lifting heavy weights with isolation days focusing on each body part.’

Jono’s comments come after Chris admitted he would need to bulk up like never before for the role.

[post_ad] He recently said: ‘This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. ‘I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.’
